If you look through my catalog of projects you will see another fishing rod rack that I built in 2012, ended up being a piece of junk, rods would never stay put in the French curves. So I came up with this idea after looking at different designs online. Just like my last post (tool cabinet) this was made form junk cull lumber from HomeDepot. The top on the other hand was made from Appalachian hardwoods. The outer cherry was tin roof support, walnut was just random scraps, the poplar came from a cabinet my great grandmother had, I was initially going to restore the cabinet but it was beyond repair so I kept some of the poplar, you can tell that portion was once drawer faces by the holes drilled for pulls. I am about 30 mins from Lowes or the HomeDepot so when I found out that I was out of 2×4s I came up with a solution, you can see the end to end splice with a walnut enforced spline in one of my pictures. Pulls came from my grandfather’s stash of random accessories, probably at least 50 years old. Wipe on poly

Great looking and working rod rack. I really like the top and the storage. I need another rod rack that design would work really well where I would put it.
