I made this as a christmas gift for my parents and of course named it after my Mom. I used oak with a two color stain. I made leather hinges and finished with a leather clasp. Lots of hand sanding to make baby smooth. I really love the out come.

Your parents should be very proud of this beautiful gift. The following site carries whole earth magnets which I have used to hold lids down and are inserted into regular sized drilled holes.

However, they are super strong and for elderly persons with arthritis etc. opening could be a chore! And, we want to keep the contents in the box and not the floor!!!! LOL
