This is my DMT DiaSharp diamond plate sharpening station. I have:
3” x 8” DiaSharp® Stone, 220x
3” x 8” DiaSharp® Stone, 600x
3” x 8” DiaSharp® Stone, 1200x
3” x 8” 1/8” Leather with honing compound
I made it out of a scrap piece of 1” x 12” pine shelving I had left over and some Fir strips from a dovetail practice board. I planed the pine down until it was nice and flat then planed down the 1” Fir strips until they where a bit thinner than the diamond plates. I arranged everything, applied glue and some weights and left it over night. After trimming and squaring everything up I rubbed on some beeswax and oil and sealed it with three coats of aerosol lacquer.
Stones are a snug fit, not attached and the leather is just double sided taped into place.
