Last summer my wife went away for school and since I was all alone (and bored) I figured it’d be a great time to make something for her. So I made her this headboard, using the lessons I learned building a poker table (http://lumberjocks.com/projects/12587)
The frame is a hollow MDF box with biscuit joints at the mitres. That was the first time I used a biscuit jointer (my dad’s.) The second picture shows me using all the clamps I owned at the time during the glue-up. The padded part is upholstered on to 3/8” plywood. The whole thing is hanging from the wall using a french cleat. I finished the MDF using latex paint with a foam roller, this gave it a bit of a rough texture which was unexpected, but I liked it, so I left it.
Oh and my wife loved it.
