Here is another of my projects. This is where I do all my Lumberjocking.

Chair – at work they were throwing out an old chair that had the back and seat torn to shreds. I took it as I dont like seeing anything go to waste. Not being one for spending money I cut two pieces off a 2×12 spruce plank for the seat and dug up a selection of spruce for the back. The seat is not actually flat . . . it has “cheek grooves”. I accomplished this using my Bosch planer to make the rough grooves and mucho sanding to get the graduated edges. the back is actually contoured as well. Its not the most comfortable chair in the world . . . but it beats sitting on the floor.

Desk – DW (dear wife) wanted a desk for our office\library\storage room\etc. The only guidelines she gave me was that it had to fit in the corner, could not be too big and needed shelves. Brave man that I am (I really hope she does not read this) I jumped right in. You guessed it . . . all spruce again except for the beading around the drawer. I T&Ged the board for the top and the shelf. I love my router!!! I installed a drawer on the front to hold scraps of paper and my full size keyboard.

I think it looks great. It’s a very functional desk set. The chair is really cool.

Is the back fo that chair comfortable? I like the looks of it, but there’s something about that chunk of wood in line with my spine that says, not comfortable. Great save on the chair, though. I like you hate to see all the waste in this country. The desk turned out nicely.

Great idea, Zuki. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use the mechanism of an office chair to make one from wood. I like this very much and may try it myself.

Great reclaimation job Zuk. Now I have one more thing to keep my eye out for when people put things at the end of their driveway. I like the soft feel the wood gives off but, like Os, I would be kinda curious about the comfort of that center piece of wood. Seems like it may be low enough not to effect the curviture of the spine though. Regardless, great pieces and thanks for putting them up.

The center piece of wood . . . let me see . . . [DW is looking at me strange as Im now squirming in the chair]

Actually its wide enough that my spine does not actually touch it. Upon closer inspection I should have contoured that piece as well. DW loves the chair as it supports her back quite well.

I have another out in the garage but it does not have the upright for the back . . . gonna attack that one sooner or later.
