I made these signs for my fiancee starting about a year ago. The top sign is obviously our names. The first date is the day we met, the second is the day our relationship began, the third date is the day I proposed to her, and the final date is the day we will get married.

I first gave the top 3 to her on our 3 year anniversary and told her that she can expect 2 more to follow in the future. She received the proposal date on the day of our proposal and we we will hang the final date the day of our wedding! Since the final one is already completed, I just have to keep it in the shop until the day arrives!

The signs are made from quarter sawn white oak and finished with a quick and easy spray lacquor. They measure about 5 1/2” by 24”. I routed the letters and numbers by hand and made them pop by burning the edges.

Thank you for looking!!

Great routing.. and lots of it! You had a template of some kind right? Say yes, or I’m going to feel real bad about my routing skills.

Thank you very much! It made a mess too! I was cleaning out all those wood chips for weeks from behind my bench!

To make the letters/numbers I used spray adhesive to stick some paper letters on top and I just followed that. So if by template you mean paper, then yes! Trust me, there are quite a few imperfections…and a little sanding goes a long way! And by a little sanding I mean a lot of sanding…..

Excellent job! I really like to see lettering done without a CNC machine. Time and patients and a steady hand.

Great idea. I believe you and your future wife will be making a few more signs in the future.
