I made these cabinets from maple for my sister. I picked through the pile at the lumber yard for the most interesting grain. None of the boards were officially figured, but I found a lot of nice stuff. I’ve done lots of cabinets but not many full kitchens, so it was nice to get to play around with my sister’s. There are still some bits and pieces left to do (eg knobs and pulls), but she’s using it.
Now if I can just learn how to take photos!

Sweeeet!
Can’t buy that kind of character at the Home Depot.

Nice. Simple and clean; always a good approach for kitchens. Did you do custom drawers as well?

Your cabinets look great!
Did you build the boxes out of plywood, and if so, was it maple? Where and how much did you you pay for it?

Thanks for all your comments.
To answer your questions.
Trimmer: I used poly for the finish (I don’t have a spray booth). Put on 4 coats on the doors/drawer fronts and three elsewhere.
Math: Yes, I did use maple ply for the cases. I paid around $115 a sheet I think and I got it at a place called Downes and Reader (Stoughton, MA). They actually keep it in stock, but I bet any good lumber yard could get it for you. I just learned they also carry 4’ x 10’ ply which I didn’t know existed.
Thanks for checking it out.
