Mesquite Floating Cabinet

Had some scrap.

The front and back of this cabinet is mesquite, and the carcase is Spanish Cedar. I loved the look of that mesquite board on front. Construction is dados and rabbets. Front edges of the shelves are shaped to be slightly convex.

The cabinet “floats” about 3/8 of an inch away from the all using spacers that are far enough behind the cabinet so that they can’t be seen. Attaches to the wall with a french cleat. No catch for the door; the hinges easily keep the lightweight door closed just with friction.

I use this by our side door to hold things you might need: sunscreen, bug repellent, and discount coins for the grocery, for example.
