My friend Tom wanted medicine chests for his two bathrooms, but wanted “something different”. Didn’t like anything he found in any store and wanted something “different” i.e., custom made. He wanted “wrap around” corner cabinets!
I couldn’t find any anywhere, so came up with this design. He liked it. So, off to the lumberyard, where we picked out some red oak, and I built them. I took the nicest piece, and book matched it for the doors. Hope you like it! It’s shown unfinished, as Tom wants to do that part.
(Turned out, I overestimated the amount of lumber, so some of it found its way into the Lectern.)

A sad postscript to the story: Tom had prostate cancer as I built these, and wanted to finish them himself. In spite of his pain and illness, he did.
I installed them about 2 days before he died. Sadly, it was the only thing he had left undone in the house he built almost 25 years ago. May he rest in peace, his house was finally complete. And, I’m proud to have been a small part of it.
Tom was a wonderful guy, and I still miss him.
