Here is a rocking “dog” I made for a grandchild.
The size is great for toddlers because they can keep their feet on the ground.
It is made of cherry wood with a danish oil and wax finish.
I originally made one for my children (35 years ago) and was a bit more primitave with dowels for the handle and a painted finish. It has long since been lost. The dog head variation developed about 10 years ago for grandchildren who had a Labrador retriever for a pet.
The original plans were in Popular Mechanics magazine in about 1970.
