Merry Christmas fellow Lumberjocks. These are the products of my first time using a lathe (Shopsmith :-) ). All the pens and pencils are slimlines. There’s oak, cedar, mahogany, and an I don’t know. The dark one was the only wood I bought, and I forgot to ask what it was. It’s almost a dark purple, and is hard as a rock. The rest of the wood was once someone else’s furniture. Any and all comments welcome.
Thanks for looking,
Yussef

Sef –
Your first turnings look pretty good. You’ll learn a lot as you go and your skills will continue to increase… but I’d say for your first group of turnings, I would be pretty pleased. (Mine didn’t look near as good!)

Hey BK, Thanks for the encouragement. Not really having a clue, I had planned on doing the simple, straight style, but got cocky after the first one. Only one turned out just as I’d planned it to, but I was pleased with the results. I was nervous about the reception they would get, but relief came when they were all snatched up, and I was asked when I would be making more. That felt good. They were a lot of fun to make too. I can easily see getting addicted. I’ll likely be at Penn State for mor kits next week!
