Hi everyone! I just finished Andy’s christmas present, a shiny new under-the-counter microwave cabinet… WOOHOOOOOO! I tried something new on the end grain edge of the solid oak side panels. I think it turned out really cool! I just trimmed 3/4 inch of material from the edge of each panel, turned it 90 degrees, glued the face of the strip to the end grain edge, and ripped the strip down to 1/4 thickness. Finally, I ran the edge thru a thumbnail shaper bit to “warp” the grain. I will certainly be using this technique again! Merry Christmas to all !!!! craven

Very nice – the end grain really pops.
