I made a wine bottle box and didn’t really like the design.
You’re looks so much better. The design and the wood selection means everything. I select secondary woods for the body and try to add bright colored woods to dress it up but it doesn’t work well. Your box starts out with a great (different) handle than a rounded top and bottom. Than the wood you selection makes everything work together. You don’t need a latch. My latch was a magnet (really bad looking) The strip of wood on the top cover and maybe the bottom.
Great workmenship, Greater design, Great project.

You didn’t mention the wood on the sides. It looks like Flame Birch from here.
