I just finished some Christmas gifts, I am “cutting” it a little close this year. I used only small pieces of left over material, I hate to use the word scrap because we all save this material. I was only going to make wine bottle balancers but I redesigned them into cheese cutting boards. Then I made a hole in the handle to act as a hanger and wine stopper holder. The cutting boards are made of walnut, ash, cherry, red oak, and maple.
The wine stoppers were a first for me. I have not ever really turned anything to give away or even keep. But they were really fun to glue up and turn, I will definitely be doing these again in the future and maybe use the lathe a little more often. I have two more gluing right now and hopefully have them turned this afternoon. These two are made from walnut and maple and finished using tung oil and wax.
My family and I would like to wish everyone at Lumber Jocks a Very Merry Christmas and the Best of Luck in the New Year…
If you would like to have a copy of my cutting board design email me at gbanash@hotmail.com and I will send you my AutoCAD drawing as a PDF. You will need to print it on a legal size paper and it will give a full scale template.

great idea to combine the cheeseboard with the balancer… I predict we’ll be seeing more of these. Genius!
