Toolchest for son-in-law

This was made from Woodsmith shop “Grandpa’s Toolchest” plans.
I couldn’t cut the miters good enough for my liking so I made finger joints on the top trim and other trim. The panel in the top is 1/8” birch covered with walnut burl on the inside and curly maple veneer on the outside.

The pine was planed and ripped by machine but all the rest was hand work. My first ‘big’ project. Finished in shellac.

Thanks. I’m learning. Or more like I’m actually doing something!

Mine too. That’s why I had to have a reason to make one. Glad I took the plunge and did it. The thought that I might be leaving an heirloom was icing on the cake…

Yep. Got something right! Now, I have to make three more! The other son-in-laws want one.
