The last present and not a moment too soon. Always wanted an excuse to make a train so the the latest grandson was tailor make. Train is made from padoo wood, measures about 4 feet and assembled with glue and the trusty Dowelmax. Tools used were the router table, TS and jig saw and lots of shaping with rasp, sand paper and good old elbow grease. Other than the wheels which were cut on the drill press with a hole saw, the remaining round shapes were roughed out on the RT and TS and then completed by hand.
It will be sent state side unfinished as salad bowl oil is not available in Thailand and toxic finishes and small children do not get along too well. His dad will have to add the finishing touches after arrival.
Once the little tyke grows a bit and reaches the rugrat stage this is something he will most likely want to sink his teething teeth into.
