In another house we redid the fireplace brick had been painted so we cut the face or 1st layer of brick off and re bricked it putting in a arch with a mirror and built a new mantel.

In the first photo the crown on the ceiling is lined up so well I thought I was looking through the arch. A great looking rebuild. Well done mantle.
