ring experiment

Project by prill369 posted 342 days ago 566 views 1 time favorited 11 comments Add to Favorites Watch

Trying to come up with an idea for something simple to do with all of my scraps, I thought it might be fun to make some rings.

Problem was I didnt like the end grain of the drilled out style of rings and I was having a hard time shaping them.

So I started to look on the internet and found different sites that sold wrapped wood rings. This was the perfect solution.
But then a new problem came up…how do you wrap wood?

Im still not that great at it but part of the fun is figuring it out.

These are the rings that turned out, lol.
I have no idea what size they are but they fit me so thats all the matters…right?

From left to right the rings are made from:
oak and walnut
walnut and maple
cherry and walnut

I have plans to make more but I’m going to try some new methods, see if they work better.

You always see something new here at LumberJocks. Now all you LumberJocks are going to save your scrap wood for rings. I wonder if there should be some kind of warning about what types of wood can or cannot be used?

Those are great looking.

The other guys are right, you are going to have to share the technique.
