I made this Laptop Stand from a single 8-foot 1”x12” pine board. The height adjusts from 26” to 34” so that it can be used while sitting on the sofa or bed. It can also double as a snack table while watching a move or the big game, or for breakfast in bed. It is strong enough to hold a laptop or several pounds of bacon! :o)

Thanks for checking out this project. I really appreciate it! Steve…

I’ve been thinking about making one of these for awhile now. I like how yours is adjustable. I don’t like that there are two separate knobs for the same adjustment though–have you considered trying to consolidate to just one knob to lock the height?

Like the design. Maybe it could be made with just one knob. Got to try that some time.

Thanks! I thought about making it with a single leg with one knob, but I wasn’t sure how sturdy it would be. It would probably be ok with a square column leg, and the top could have a post that goes into the column.

Nice – i’m out here looking at styles so that i can create a rolling stand that will hold 2 laptops. I like how you were able to get this done with a single 1×12.

Have your say...
