Project Information
This sculpted rocking chair is built from 2'' Canadian Black Walnut and Rosewood accented with Ebony plugs. This is a small version ( 5' 5'' - 5' 8'' ).
The leg/headrest design borrows from the form of Sam Maloof design, with legs extending like horns and with a more stylized bottom curve to the headrest but still using a coopered headrest to keep the grain lines matched to the seat and arms.
For wood selection I used a beautiful piece of Rosewood, to highlight the flexible back supports & inlayed seat.
Features
- Grain matched Rosewood form fitting flexible back braces fronts
- coopered headrest
- exposed Maloof joinery
- hand carved seat, arms, and joints….. Actually the entire chair!
