I started this bowl in january and only finished it yesterday due to me not being able to get to my lathe. I am giving it to my parents for christmas, It is 8 1/2” diameter and about 1 1/2” deep. It is made out of beech and finished with a clear sand and seal

That Looks more like a Change Bowl..
Like something you would put at the Door so when you come in, you drop your keys and change in it as you walk in, or even on a Dresser to drop your keys, wallet, change etc in…
I like it, Can I have it? LOL

That is a really nice bowl Callum. The swirl of the rings draws the eyes to the centre – It will almost be a pity to see it actually being used and hiding that feature.
-- The wood slayer - Yes dear I did plan to make more kindling out of that wood I have been drying for the last year - honest!
