My mother wanted me to make her a headboard for her bed. She wanted it to ‘kind of’ match the rest of her bedroom furniture (dresser/mirror, chest of drawers, nightstands). I took my inspiration from the mirror on the dresser. Even though it was ‘cheap’ furniture, and the mirror was made of plastic, I took the design of the basic form and drew the shape of the headboard. I scanned the image into my computer, cleaned it up, and printed a full size plan which I used to cut my pieces.
I used ash for a strong grain (to match the faux painted grain on her existing furniture) and used a couple of stains to get a close color match, and covered it all in polyurethane. The areas between the boards are padded with some very soft suede-like material.
Thanks for looking

Great headboard. And the match looks great.

I think it is great that you were able to copy the mirror and produce a beautiful woodworking piece for your mother. I like the finish and the complex curves.
