This woodspirit is named Jasper and was one of the first spirits I carved a few years back. It was taken from the branch of a maple tree felled on our property. I used a light stain to bring out some depth and highlights then finished with a carnuba wax. Jasper is being used as a garden guardian to bring good luck.

Thank you all for your comments. I’m currently working on developing the “Garden Guardian” as a theme, and using wood from a customers garden or yard as the carving material. As a believer in the spirit of wood, I feel that using wood from the space where the Guardian will reside will bring an even greater protective spirit into play.
