This is the third one of these I have built recently. I think I have settled on design and construction, finish is still questionable. The dimensions on this are roughly 24” H x 16” W x 16” D. This one is pine. Everything is held together with dowels and glue, no nails or screws other than the hardware for the lid. The panels and bottom (not pictured) are 1/4” plywood glued into dados. Finish is Minwax stain, polyurethane, and a coat of wax. For a box to hold skid-marked undies until laundry day, I think it will work ok.

A second version in pine with glue-sizing, mahogany stain, and polyurethane finish.

And a third version in oak with tung oil finish.
