After using a very utiliatarian sled made from 1x pine, and particle board for years, I finally decided it was time to upgrade to a larger/nicer one. The sled was built with 1/2” BB plywood, and 8/4 African mahogany for the fences, and quartersawn white oak for the rails. The dimensions are 36” wide by 27” deep. I built it so it will crosscut just over 24”. It has a BLO/wax finish, and is dead on, which my last sled was not. What a difference it makes having a sled that is exact!

Nice!
You can never have too many sleds. I’ve found that milling miter slot stock by the bundle is handy. When a new sled is immediately needed, you can whip on up on the spot.

Haha, no it’s not blood. It’s red dye.
