Hello-my name is Thomas MacDonald and I’m a furniture maker in Canton, MA. I’ve been building furniture since 2002 when I graduated from North Bennett, and this is one of my latest projects. Its a bombe secretary and it took nearly 14 months to build. I documented all the stages of the build from starting from two large slabs of mahogany to the final piece of furniture in my podcasts if you’re interested. Here’s a few pictures of it. The joinery is hand cut dovetails.

Sure turned out nice. That was a really fun one to watch. I enjoy your podcast and always look forward to picking up more of Al’s wisdom, or maybe it’s your skills, either one.

Thomas,
Your work is absolutely remarkable! With that said stop teasing us with these single itsy bitsy pictures. We need more close up shots (like this post) of that wonderful detail and stellar craftmanship.

Very nice! While this isn’t my style, there’s is no denying the craftsmanship that went into it. Very well done!

If this piece took 14 months to complete, it surely must be a very pricey item. If you don’t mind, what would something like that cost some rich guy to purchase?
