Some projects are artsy, some are functional, this one is the latter. The “Poop Stoop” as I like to call it came to be out of necessity. Without going into to much detail, a very sweet as well as short lady I know asked me to help her out. It is made of mostly construction grade lumber and plywood. I used block and screws as well as glue to reinforce the jointery and add strength. I realize that pocket holes would have been much easier, but at the time I didn’t own a jig. The top is 1/2” plywood recessed in a rabbit cut in the frame. I flush mounted nuts in the bottom to receive the leveling legs. It is painted with Zinsser Perma-White mould and mildew proof paint. It’s finished off with self adhesive grip strips and a piece of pipe insulation as a gasket around the base of the toilet.

Thanks for your interest

P.S. Don’t let your legs dangle, improve their angle…Get the Poop Stoop!!
Sorry, I had to do it.

Looks very helpful. The insulation seal around the toilet base is a nice touch. I’m sure she’s pleased with it.

Saw something like that on Shark Tank TV show, mother and son were pitching to Sharks. Made of plastic and maybe little higher supposed to make life healthier. Yours looks more attractive!

Great job!

Pitching a toilet pedestal to sharks in a tank for a healthier life? I don’t watch TV that often and I think I am missing something here.
DustBeard…your pop stoop was sure a great and thoughtful project to help your neighbor

Very neat looking solution. I like your new word (to me) – jointery. A nice combination of joinery and joints!

Thanks for the comments everyone. A friend told me about the squatty potty, pretty funny stuff. This is more just to help her reach the ground, she has very short legs. Anyhoo… I can’t beleive the “Poop Stoop” almost made the daily top three, it was in 4th for a bit. Haha who would have thought?

if poop is fertilizer
and we fertilizes trees with it
and we cut the the trees and make lumber
and if we use this wood to build things in our shop
then are we just a bunch of guys and gals playing with poop

The Squatty Potty concept as pitched on Shark Tank has merit. I tried the concept by cutting a substantial cardboard box (Tidy Cats 40lb box) to a 9” height. Now the challenge is to make one of wood that isn’t too heavy and stows easily. The one on Shark Tank is sold in Bed, Bath and Beyond and is very lightweight and easy to handle.

Enjoying the comments and the poop scoop! I also laughed at the ‘Don’t let your legs dangle, improve their angle…Get the Poop Stoop!!’
I made a rocking stooper for the potty many, many years ago. It isn’t curved around the bottom of the potty like the picture though. I slide it off to the side between the wall and the pot. I have several of these little rockers around where I sit. Under the computer table, sewing room and in the wood shop. The one in the bathroom has a wood burned dolphin on the top, in the sewing room, a colored butterfly, one in the shop under the scroll saw that is covered with wood dust so I don’t remember what was on it, and in the computer it is just plane. It is amazing how comfy just moving the legs with the rocking motion is after sitting for long periods of time. And just plain fun. I also use these rockers for sitting on when looking for something that fell on the floor. That rock seems to help in getting back up too! If I could figure out how to put pictures on this site I’d post a picture. I enjoy this site a lot! ~Suzanne
