Not only did my wife get me a made-in-Hawaii hammock for Christmas, she also got my 45 lineal feet of sustainably grown mahogany from Kauai to make the stand. You know you’ve got problems when you get excited for a gift of unfinished lumber :)

I had a lot of fun making the stand. Joints were a little bit of an experiment for me: glued and then “pegged” with a 7/8” dowel. The legs are attached with lag screws so they can be detached. Finished with a couple coats of marine varnish.

Now just got to get out there and enjoy a Hawaiian January!

Looks great. This combines my 2 favorite hobbies…woodworking and hammocks. Now this is something my wife might not mind putting inside the house. I will have to try my hand at making one this nice.
