I made this fun Minecraft TNT Prank Bank with my oldest son (the Minecraft addict/expert in our house). The bank “explodes” when a coin is put in it, and it’s a lot of fun to make and use.

I just used some scrap 1/4” MDF I had laying around, but it would probably be better with a plywood (I don’t know how the MDF will hold up to repeated “explosions” from the mouse trap, but so far so good. I did use some hot glue to strengthen that though).

I just used cheap craft magnet strips to hold it together until it explodes, and I used the image transfer trick from Wood Working for Mere Mortals (thanks Steve!).

I wrote up an instructable that has all of the build details, downloadable templates for cutting and the images for transfer.

If you have any Minecraft fans in your house, this is a quick and fun project. Check out the video to see it in action.

Yes, I have 3 boys, and they all love Mincraft, so they have really loved this project. It was fun to put together (and super quick too). I ended up using really basic tools so they could help too (like the hand saw and sheets of sandpaper), so that was fun to work with them on it (although, they took 3 swipes with the saw and then asked me to finish each piece ;)

Fantastic! You just became my new hero. And, I’m about to become my son’s! Thanks :)
