This weekend’s woodworking project was Carving. Last weekend we made the Scarf/mitten/hat rack

which could be considered fairly utilitarian, so we had planned to do something whimsical for our second project. Besides her once-in-a-while whittling with her swiss army knife, we have never carved anything out of wood, so we assembled all the tools and books to help us noobs and we dove right in.

I have included a couple of pics here, but there are loads more, plus the entire Instructable:

This is a wonderful project that you can do by yourself as a gift for a special youngster, or make with a younger one!

Those are nice, looks like it was a fun project. Martin & Rebecca remind me of figures that another LJ post on this site. You may like to check out Wanda Sowry. Her animations are lots of fun to look at.
