My first project

Yep, it was 12 years ago, Japan, the biggest department store – “Seibu” (the richest man in the world before Bill took the lead with “Windows”), we saw some clear plastic tissue box.

My wife wanted to buy it but I said “Plastic???”
“Can you make it of wood?”...”of course”, I replied.

At that time, my “woodworking tools” included, hand drill, jigsaw, file and some screwdrivers.

So, we went to the local carpenter and ordered 1/4” plywood pieces cut exactly to my “cutting list” and he even gave me some sandpaper to sand the box and told me how to use it (with pad).

We went home and I, very carefully glued the pieces with…..Super glue.
The hole was cut with jigsaw and filed.

I finished it with “Nisu” – Varnish in Japanese (we made a few more but stained them).

And that’s it, I got the bug (and how much)

Since than, I made many Boxes, big, small, with doors, with drawers and glass, many of them we gave to friends when we left Japan but this “box”, I’ll keep forever…
