After my girlfriend, Andy, posted her first project on here (the cutting board), she can’t get enough of the sawdust. This is her latest project, a jewelry box of goncalo alves with ziricote floor and top. It measures 4” wide, 7” long, and 2 1/4” tall. Looks like I have to share the shop now!!! Craven

I think that for the people who join this site, ALL projects involving woodworking is porn. Or better than porn.

Great project, I take it you were trying to get her to join you. Maybe so you could keep an eye on her. What ever, looks like it worked. OH, tell her the box looks great, wink, wink.

You are soooo lucky to have a partner who loves being knee high in wood shavings. Mine would rather read a book or watch TV. But hey at least I get some ‘me’ time. You budding lumberette is showing some real talent. Please pass on my appreciation of her skill.

Any woman should be proud to have as nice a box as your girlfriend has.
It’s with caution that we respond this way I think.

That is great. I posted a box I made here, but I definitely think it would have benefitted from a few of the fetures hers has. I particularly like the shapped top. Some great wood was used too. I’ve never tried those types. Nice work!

This is a wonderful project and a beautiful wood combination. Yes, Craven you are going to definately have to share your shop now, but with the space that you have, there is ample room enough for the both of you to work. Just make sure she doesn’t get into YOUR lumber. :)
With two nice projects completed, Andy how about creating your own page?

Andy thats a lovely project and I agree you should join under your own page rather that suffer HIS poor taste that was probally selected to encourage snide remarks. OR being a red head you could probably just pound his brains with what evere tool is handy ang get both the shop and his place at LJ’s. (Of course that could result is some nasty legal fees)

Hi – this is Andy, the junior lumber jock! Thanks for all the nice comments on the box. I didn’t even know Rick had posted it. Had I posted it, I would have chosen a bit different wording! However, we do have fun in the woodshop! One of the reasons I enjoy my boyfriend is his sly wit and great sense of humor. Sometimes …........... Seriously though, I really am happy with how this box turned out. I made it for my Mom for Christmas – it was really pretty easy and I love the woods. I’m learning a lot and looking forward to another project! And, maybe—- that ring on my finger!! Loved that one!

Nice box. I love the contrasting wood and splines! BTW, I share my workshop with my wife who also enjoys woodworking and it’s great to share a passion for woodworking! Makes it easier to justify tool purchases too :-)
