A 18 inch tall bear holding a candy dish.
This little weekend project was made from scrap wood in the workshop. The bowl is cedar and the bear is pine. Walnut stain was used for the eyes and to accent the router lines that make up his face. The eyes are routed out leaving the pupils of the eyes the same depth as the surface of the bear.
The bowl was made by cutting the inside of a piece of cedar at a 45 degree angle on the inside with a Roybi scroll saw. A piece of 1/4 inch paneling was glued to the cedar to make a bottom, then the outside of the bowl was cut with the same 45 degree angle.
The bowl is held in place with a small dowel rod on each side from the hands to the bowl. The back side of the bowl is attached to the body of the bear with glue and a screw from the back side.
