This is a dresser that I made for my son a couple of years ago.

It was a fun project to make. The side panels (maple ply) were put in last by inserting them into a rabbet from the inside and securing them with mending clips. I would NEVER do it this way again. Big PITA!
The pulls are hand made from cherry.

I love the grain in the top:

very nice! why was the side-panel rabbet assembly so hard? it sounds straightforward to me…

Aaron,
I guess I wouldn’t say it was hard, but more of a design screw-up on my part. After I made all of the rabbets and glued the carcass I realized I made a mistake. After the left and right panels go in, there was no room for the rear panel on the left and right side. The leg rabbets should have been deeper to allow room for the rear panel to make contact?? I’m not really sure what would have been the best solution. Not sure if I am making this very clear or not. Let me know.
The ‘fix’ was to insert the rear panel into the rabbet on the top and bottom rail and to use molding (made from a thin strip of maple) on the left and right side (from the outside).

ah, ok i get what you mean. yeah, if i’m understanding you and the pics correctly, deeper rabbets wouldve been the way to go. thanks.
