the veneer cubes on the top are from satinwood, english brown oak and white oak. the box is made from 1/2” birch plywood veneered with sapelle. the inside is velvet lined with a marquertry picture of my buddy playing the pipes.

That is some really intricate marquetry. Very impressive. You should have snapped a pic of the inside, too.
