I wanted to make a nice looking lamp holder for a LED globe light bulb that I got as a gift. Found a nice piece of birch in the firewood stack and turned it on the lathe to fit as a kind of sleeve over an ordinary E27 bulb socket. The tricky part was to get it extremely thin to get a nice and sleek look and to get it to fit exactly over the original bulb socket. Finished it with boiled linseed oil. The lamp is now hanging in the living room window but may also be placed in a horizontal fashion.

That is definitely a unique idea. I think you did a great job getting the socket sized right. It looks nice and a sure eye-catcher.

Great little project! Wonder where that bulb came from, I’d like to find one like it too!

Very clever idea, I had never seen a bulb like that before.

Have your say...
