Built this 5 drawer dresser from Wood Magazine plan that I downloaded.
primary carcase box is Oak plywood, but the drawers are solid oak and dovetailed in.
The top and sides I liked the ‘shadow’ effect of the center panels just to give some added dimension.
To have the drawers open and close more easily and have less risk of falling out when used as stairs, I used KV full extention 18 inch drawer slides.
Some wouldn’t consider the acceptable on furniture, but 4 years later with 3 kids climbing it to play superman off the top – the drawers are still solid and the unit is wobble free.
And yes it is screwed to the wall!
This was finished just before the race car bed.

Great looking dresser. Lots of space in the drawers!

Looks sharp. Good slides increase costs, but as you say durability is the pay off. That looks good for four years of use. I also like the fullness the drawers pull out. Must be attached to the wall. Anyway, nice project.
