I made this stool as a Christmas present for my mom. Some of it was made from old wood from my grandmother’s garage (she passed away in August of 2014), the rest was hickory. The second step in the stool, as well as the frame for the top step, is the wood from the garage. It was finished with four coats of poly. Overall it was a lot of fun to build, and it was extra special given the sentimental value of salvaging some of the wood for a gift for my mother. Hope you enjoy the pics.

This is a lovely stepstool. The wood looks fantastic. I really appreciate the sentiment you shared regarding having used the wood you found in your dearly departed Grandmother’s garage. A touch that adds even more to a piece your mom is sure to cherish the rest of her life.

It looks like there are other posts of stools that were perhaps spammers, so yours seems to have been overlooked. I’m glad I took a moment to see this beauty and read the story behind it.

Great job and looks awesome. You wouldn’t happen to have the plans or tell me where I can locate the plans?

Thanks in advance
