I think this looks great. I have always loved darker woods to lighter woods. The challenge was the kitchen is quite small and narrow, but needed sufficient storage to everything.
The units them selves are mass produced carcasses sold at the local hardware store with 1/4” Blackwood veneer. The doors and hutch are solid Blackwood.
The doors were a lot easier to make once you have set up the right kind of jig.
I will have to strip out a section under the oven once we get a new oven/stove – (a while away as the one we want if $4340 when it is on special!!!). However this is not a problem as the unit under the current stove/oven is modular – not sure what I will do with said module but it is better than destroying it.
I want to replace the bench tops with more Blackwood but there is only so far a limited budget will go – for now it is functional.

Beautiful!!
Even for a small kitchen, it looks like you have lots of counter space!

Excellent Belinda – It looks great!!! Would love to see some closer pictures of your doors. You did the window frame and trim work too, yes?

Very nice job. The blackwood is different from the stuff I have. I’ve got some African Blackwood that is jet black like ebony. I use it for Greene and Greene pegs. and other small pieces.

There are many trees called Blackwood. I grow an Australian species Acacia melanoxylon on my forest plantation though none are ready to cut yet, sorry :(
