The Maloof style rocker seems to be almost as ubiquitous as Norm’s router table and here is my attempt. This is my first rocker (there will be others) using the plans from Hal Taylor ( http://www.rockingchairs.net/ ). As this is my prototype, I have more than a couple of ideas on how the next chair will go. The wood is walnut finished with Deft Danish oil.

You did a beautiful job on the rocker. I went to Maloof’s house and had a tour earlier this year and he is truly an inspiration.

Wow! This is relly realy beautiful rocker. Beautifully built and beautifully finished.
Great work MJJ!
I really like walnut. But can’t afford to import the lumber because of the shipping cost. So I just purchased walnut mushroom and pegs and of course, the walnut stain.

Great job! I have yet to make mine but I did get a chance to spend a week with Hal a few months ago. Fingers are crossed to getting mine started in the new year and will look to yours for inspiration!

Beautiful Chair!!! Do you know some of the people that influenced Sam Maloof. I think one person was Hans Wegner he was Danish, and has a lot of pieces of furniture in museums around the world. Have you heard of him?
