I HAD THIS CRAZY IDEA OF BENDING A GUITAR TO MAKE AN ARTISTIC TABLE. THE INSPIRATION CAME FROM DALI MELTING CLOCKS. I WANTED TO MAKE SOMETHING SURREAL THAT LOOKED LIKE THE WOOD WAS FLOWING OR MELTING. AFTER 2 YEARS OF THOUGHT AND DESIGNING THESE ARE THE RESULTS.
I USED BEAUTIFULLY FIGURED QUILTED MAPLE. I LAMINATED SOME WALNUT IN THE MIDDLE, AND MORE MAPLE ON THE BOTTOM. I CUT AND FORMED THE BODY. I CUT IT APART AND MITERED IT BACK TOGETHER, SO THE BEAUTIFUL GRAIN FLOWED CONTINUOUSLY OVER THE BEND. I PURCHASE A NICE GUITAR NECK THAT IS THE STYLE OF THE GIBSON LES PAUL GUITAR. I AIRBRUSH RED AND YELLOW DYE’S AROUND THE EDGES AND MIDDLE. I CHOOSE CO-ORDINATING DICHROIC AND IRRIDESCENT GLASS FOR THE INLAYS. WITH THE GLASS INLAYS I SIMULATED THE KNOBS, PICK GUARD, PICKUPS AND BRIDGES.
I USED WALNUT FOR THE LEGS AND SIMULATED A LEATHER STRAP GOING FROM THE BODY, FLOWING ON THE FLOOR, AND BACK UP TO THE BODY. I FINISHED WITH MULTI COATS OF HIGH GLOSS LACQUER. I PUT GOLD SPARKLE IN THE FIRST COAT OF LACQUER.
THIS BENT GUITAR TABLE REPRESENTS A GIBSON LES PAUL WITH A SUNBURST FINISH.

just curious if you don’t mind sharing, what do you sell these for? seems like you may have found a niche, I love it when people do that I am happy for them…my sister’s ex-bf now has a 5k sq ft shop with 9 employees all making good money, and it started from his first sale making a crazy custom drum set out of a bicycle frame.

That’s awesome. Nicely executed.

a new dali in wood! dali being the surrealist painter most known for his “the persistence of memory” painting with the clocks kind of melting over the edge of a table or something. nevertheless, great artwork!
