This logs were salvaged from a 100 year old dairy farm in Portland Oregon.
The trees were planted when the house was built 100 years ago.
The farm was sub-divided into row houses and this tree was in the way of one of the house’s seeing Mt Hood so it had to go.
Lame i know – but at least it didnt get bucked into firewood or taken to the landfill like most of the trees around here end up at excavation sites.
Faster to bulldoze the trees and take them to the landfill since they are already going back & forth to & from the landfill throwing away the houses they just bull dozed.

Good save. Great looking cedar slabs. Wish I had a set up for wide slabs.

Wow, lucky you! Another way to think of it is all the enjoyment you will get out of furniture, etc made from the tree- so maybe the tree isn’t standing, but it will be put to great use!

Interesting grain. Glad to see you salvaging what others consider trash.

Great catch. I’m glad that the users are getting there ahead of the throwers.
