This is very cool in the sunlight. Made from Oregon Black Walnut. For those who have never worked with Oregon Black Walnut they you should know this wood is a dream to turn, carve & makes AMAZING furniture. Not your regular eastern walnut which is usually steamed, Oregon black walnut is actually a hybrid tree. Juglans Hindsii crossed with Juglans Nigra. (basicly California Claro crossed with eastern walnut) This makes amazing curly hard, strong lumber. The trees are also amazing. We have some slabs in stock that are 5 feet wide. We just love this wood!
Check out the slab in the pic. 4 ft at the butt. 5 ft at the crotch!

Walnut is my favorite. Beautiful bowl. This kind of wood just makes my blood run hot.
