I had this spalted pecan lumber for over 15 years before I got my shop and the inspiration to make this simple table with a bookmatched top and the first chairs I ever attempted. I had no plan, just some ideas and a limited amount of material.

Very beautiful set of table and 4 chairs. You did very great work.
I like the wood grain and the finish colour.

Let me guess the price if you were to buy it at the store – USD 2,300?
How close is my guess?
You know why I like to estimate the store price of a complete set? I’ve seen one dinner chair sold on e-bay for USD 600. With that amount of money I can buy a complete set for four to six persons (1 table + 4 to 6 chairs) in my country. But I’d rather buy ww machines because I love woodworking!

Wormwood:

Greetings to you in Malasia from Williston, Florida. I truly appreciate the compliment. The wood is Pecan as in the southern US eating nut. Thus was a pretty big tree because the narrowest board I had was 22” wide. I never imagined it would finish so beautifully with only a clear wipe on polyurethane finish. The wood was spalted and wormy, even pecky in parts. It took me mosy of my adult life to finally have a proper workshop, don’t give up.
