Turned from spalted Pecan
My inspiration for these bells was from one that my Dad had turned for his 7 children. I always cherished mine and know that he would be pleased that I keep and displayed it proudly. I wanted to do the same for my kids so I designed my own and turned 6 of them. One was given to a charity to auction off for cancer research. The others were given as Christmas gifts. Those that turn know the difficulty of turning across the end grain and making the section thin and delicate but not weak.

Gorgeous!
How thin are the walls of the bells?

The bells are beautiful, and a nice tradition….do they have clappers? I just wonder if they sound….maybe if you hardened and stabilized them, they would be easier to turn and sound more???? Just an idea.

They look great , but do they make any noise ? I love bells and windchimes . I know what wooden windchimes sound like , but have yet to hear a wooden bell sound.
-- When did quiet and quite become the same word ? I'm guessing about the same time as your and you're did.
Have your say...
