This is my modern cat scratching post fashioned from spruce from the scrap pile. It won’t ever tip over. Ever. Because the cat never touches it. Future yard sale item…..

You mean it likes the end of the couch better? lol

Maybe try spraying it with some catnip spray.

A little slice of honeysuckle wood tucked in behind the ropes may pique her interest. Ya never know… ‘A’ for effort, and good intentions!

Sounds like most cats, or a least all the ones I’ve had.

Welcome to the wonderful world of cats. Good intentions anyway though.

Are you referring to the scratching post or the cat?

Did you remember to stuff the post with catnip?

Get some catnip in a bag and rub it all over the cardboard/rope part. Thats always worked for me.

I could have told you that. The probability of the cat taking an interest in it is inversely proportional to the cost or time invested.

Cardboard box some item came in? Win!

Custom, hand-crafted scratching post? Lose!

^ Ain’t that the truth. LOL
My cat would get into every cardboard box before I could even get stuff out.
Built him a nice home, carpeted with a deck on top….never touched it.
He did start using it after a few months of spraying it with catnip spray and shoving him in the hole.
Now he uses it regularly.
FWIW he’s an adult cat, around 12 or 13 years old.
