After having successfully finished my first set of small wooden planes I made another pair of concave and convex planes with a bigger radius of around 47mm. In the photos you can see completed mouldings in a test piece of spruce.
The last picture shows my hardening equipment. In my first attempt I managed to partially melt one of the blades when I was blowing to a single spot in the coals. This resulted in a local overheating and a blade which needed much more grinding than expected. The second approach used a metal pipe with lots of small holes drilled in. The pipe is welded into a cooking pot with the end sealed. So the air is equally distributed into the coals which gave a much better result :-)
To form the initial shape on the blades I used my sharpener jig .
