Project Information

I built this Dog crate for my sister and her white lab for Christmas. She keeps her dog crated at night time in her bedroom in a big ugly plastic crate and I thought she could use something a little more fancy and useful so I gave this bad boy a try. The frame is made from poplar and used pocket hole joints for quick assembly since I was in a time crunch. The top is made from maple and I'm really happy with how it turned out since it was my first attempt at any sort of edge joining!

Very nice. I have a standing request from one of my daughters for something very similar to this for her apartment, but I haven't yet built it for her. The problem is that her dog is a consummate 'chewer', destroying anything made of wood that she can reach. She'd likely destroy something like this. I'm thinking of the possibliity of lining the interior rails with hardware cloth or something similar, but not too sure. Any thoughts?
