I’m sure most people have seen these on pinterest by now. I knew I had to have one since I will probably never have that walk in pantry I would love to have. I have a small house and we are busting at the seams! Especially the pantrys I have! Spent most of the day today reorganizing everything and it’s prefect! I love this cabinet.
I originally wanted this just for canned goods, but didn’t have quite enough space for that so I made this smaller to fit spices and smaller jars. The shelves are only about 3 inches deep after putting the doll rods in but it holds alot! Of course, as I expected it would not stand on it’s on, so my husband built me a wooden drawer guide and attached that to the wall. We put a stop on it so you can’t pull the thing off the track, please don’t ask me what we did for that.
We didnt have the room for me to make this an actually cabinet that attaches to the wall. I love the guide but don’t like how it can be seen from the front. I can’t have the face of the cabinet any wider because it will hit the rescessed cabint on the wall in front of it so the slide isn’t completely hidden. Not liking that part of this project. After he took this thing off the wall 3 times and repositioned it, I’m finally happy with it. At least it is a couple inches back now and not as noticiable.
Any suggestions on a diffferent mount would be appreciated! If it’s going to be seen I would have rather it look more like a barn door slide, well shoot, I think I just figured it out! Why didn’t I think of that sooner? That might be too much thinking, that’s a whole nother project. I better just forget about that idea. We are going to be building a barn door for the cabin any way, hopefully soon!
Once again, I used milk paint for the finish. Oh, I have to add, it was so nice tonight cooking dinner and just rolling that think out and everything I needed was just right there! No more rooting thru 2 or 3 layers of spices to find what I need! Thanks for looking.

That is a great space-saving idea, Janice. It caught my wife’s eye from across the room, so I may just have to make one now!

Janice,

It’s always nice to find good use of those tiny out-of-the-way places. I’ve got a narrow cabinet like that in my base cabinets but I’d certainly like to have the space you have. I have spices in three different places!

Awesome job. Well done. I may have to remodel the kitchen to get the frig by a wall just so my wife can have one ;-)

Thanks for the comments. After opening this up I realized the one picture is so blurry so as soon as I figure out why I can’t upload them now, I’ll repost that picture.
I’m glad I could be of help Charlie.
