This hollow form vase is turned from some gorgeous, highly figured, maple. It measures 9.5” tall by 4.5” wide. It is finished with Seal-A-Cell, 2 coats of Wipe-On Poly, and 4 coats of spray lacquer. I rubbed out the finish between coats with 0000 steel wool. I wish I had taken a picture of the hunk of wood prior to turning. It was nasty looking and an odd shape. This design is not what I started off to do, but this is what the wood wanted to be. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

WOW! Really nice job with the shaping of this. I like how you did the lip too. The unusual graining is gorgeous. I think you’ve done this piece of wood justice.

I really like this one. The whole piece flows so much better in your form. And a gorgeous piece of wood to boot!

Joe, wow, that grain is incredible! It’s got great character. Very nice design as well…even if it wasn’t what you started out to do.

Thanks for posting it.

That is a real beauty. Is that from some of the stuff you got from me? Glad someone is using it.
